Aleta Organic EVOO cold extracted, organic, and traceable 1 lt 2 pack. Expiration date on mine was 4/2025, more than 1 year out. They came well-packaged and brand new. No leaks or damage. I was admittedly a bit nervous about getting oil in a can that was for human consumption lol but the sticker on the front says it’s won 21 awards in places like LA, NY, Tokyo, Athens, London, and Israel. The pull up spout was a bit annoying, but I figured it out. The flavor is unique and definitely Greek in origin. The color is light and greenish-yellow. The first taste had me thinking I had licked an olive branch lol. The taste is light yet initially robust, grassy, herbaceous, fresh, and a little bitter. It fades very fast and isn’t nutty or fruity like its Italian or Spanish cousins. I know this has to do, also, with the different species of olive trees and the processing type. It’s not a bad evoo, in fact this seems better quality than most store brands, but it’s not my personal favorite. Perhaps I miss the depth of flavor, having grown up a those types of oils. Typically I’m a huge fan of Greek foods in general.I didn’t have any issues cooking with it. No smoking etc. Due to the flavor profile, however, I wouldn’t recommend this for baked goods. It tastes nice in salads, pasta dishes, drizzled on gyros and other Greek/Mediterranean dishes.Sadly, the cost works out to almost 27 bucks a can. Yikes. That and the bitterness make it highly unlikely I would get again.
Good quality olive oil, it is very light so it doesn’t have a strong olive taste. The oil is very light and you can’t taste it much in the salad but if you just want a little oil on your salad or pizza this oil is fine. I like it that this olive oil is organic and first press but I think it’s a bit overpriced even for two cans.
This product of Aleta Farms comes in two fancy tins with a lot of international awards. I couldn’t verify these claims, but I did find this brand sold on several websites and even found a short YouTube video. Apparent, olive oil from Crete, Greece is some of the very best in the world. The only issue is that about 70% of all olive oil is fake, being cut with cheaper oils. That being said, I don’t think this is the case here.
This aleta olive oil is organic, cold extracted, EVOO from a single estate. It is a product of Greece. It has a seal on the tin saying it has 21 taste awards.I cook with olive oil and use it in my salads. This will last awhile but will be gone by the best by date which is two years away.I like that this olive oil comes in 2 smaller size tins rather than 1 larger one. It is hard to pull the spout out of the tin but once it is out it functions well and doesn't drip.4 stars because of the price.
The oil smells very fresh and has great flavor. it came from Greece. It is great for dipping and for salad dressing. it adds flavor and makes everything so much better. The spout took me a moment to figure out, but I did it, and it works ok. It closes securely, which is the main thing here. The oil comes in cans. They wrapped it layers of bubble wrap, and it all arrived in the perfect shape
We use a ton of olive oil and this product has been a joy to cook with. The flavor is rich and full like a good olive oil should be. It tastes fresh and arrived well packaged which is a huge plus when ordering oils online. The quality is impressive and it has been a wonderful addition to my selection of cooking oils.
You get a lot of olive oil here for $55. 2 tins of 33oz each. The oil tastes really good, great for dipping breads and things like that. Often I'll blend in a little pressed garlic and diced onions, or use it to make a bruschetta. Very tasty all around. Also great to use for cooking. A bit pricey, but you do get quite a bit.
This is some really high quality stuff, and tastes exceptionally fresh. The taste isn't quite in-your-face, but you can really pick up on how fresh it is. The taste is smoother than most other EVOOs I've tried, and almost has an herb/grassy note to it.Although EVOO in general tastes best uncooked, I really think you should stray away from using this one in high heat. It's not that the Aleta EVOO gets particularly bitter when cooked, but the flavor it offers really shines best the less it is cooked. Drizzled on top of some salad or pasta, it is just exceptional. It's hard to ignore the price tag on Aleta's EVOO, and I personally can't keep using it on a day-to-day basis. If you have the money to spend on this comfortably, I'd definitely try Aleta's EVOO at least once. But for most folks, the cheaper grocery store stuff gets the job done just fine and still tastes decent.
This is an excellent olive oil. I like the way that initially it's very buttery, but it finishes with a hint taste of olives and the peppery finish of oleocanthal. It's a good table all for dipping bread and marinating vegetables and cheese in.The tins do a good job of keeping it perfect for delivery and they are very easy to pour from without waste. I find it very easy to fill up my olive oil sprayers with these tins. They are small enough to be easy to handle.I would definitely buy this olive oil again if the price were right! It's one of the best brands I have tried.
Quality, flavor, price
This is a very good but not ultra-premium extra virgin olive oil, with a smooth and pleasant flavor. It's packaged in a pair of traditional metal cans, though each is only a liter in capacity, not the larger size I usually associate with canned oil. The spouts are the usual pull-out affair you find on such cans, not the best for cooking but fine for dispensing in bulk. Inside, the oil is a deep gold in color. The flavor is quite smooth; it's grassy, buttery, and richly unctuous, with just the slightest touch of the spicy/pepper flavor that usually denotes freshness. There's almost no bitterness at all compared to other extra-virgin oils. It's a smooth oil that works well for dressings, bread dipping, or as a finishing oil on pasta. It'd be a bit of a waste to cook with it, since it'd lose its brilliant fresh flavor, but you could do so if desired, using it for a light sautee as well. Very tasty.
Review of Aleta, Organic & PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Certified Single Estate, Messara Greece, First-Cold Press, Traceable & Kosher, 1 Lt (33.8 oz.) Tin, Pack of 2 sold by Unity Brands Group LLC doing business on Amazon as Aleta Farms with Aleta being the brand name. The plastic of the pull up spout is stiff and therefore harder to pull up. To avoid spillage when this gives the can should be held tightly on a flat surface as otherwise the can is likely to shift around when the force necessary to pull up the spout overcomes the pressure to remain in place.I used some of my standard taste tests for a different brand of extra virgin olive oil – small spoonful followed by dipping some bread and also drizzled some on some English cucumber. The flavor was very mellow and pleasant with a slight reminiscence of fresh grass.Since this is an extra virgin oil it is better used in a dressing, for dipping, etc., and is too expensive to be used in cooking although one may choose to do so with the caution of having a low smoke point.Something that is not mentioned is “first press” or similar that is often listed on labels to be sold in US markets. Saying “first press” is actually unnecessary and redundant as that is part of the definition of “extra virgin.”
Great olive oil clean fresh taste
We’ve embraced a low carb, KETOish diet. My husband has made it similar to a wine tasting, finding the perfect flavored olive oil. I’m simply grateful if it works in our air fryer and other cooking. It sure does! To date, if he can find one better than this, I’ll fall over, impressed. I bought the silver pump bottle and use it to spray items in our drawer style air fryer. Wow! Nothing sticks and it flavor enhances everything. I’m so pleased. There’s no harsh taste but there is flavor! A lovely mellow flavor, great on veggies, meats, salads. This is a find.
Good product
This is the best olive oil I have ever had. Everything you cook in this brand is fantastic. Smooth and lovely flavor. On salads, perfect. I ran out and tried other olive oils and everything I made tasted weird. I re-purchased and will continue unless it gets too pricey.
I am so happy I found this oil. I import my own oil from Italy where I have a home. This stuff is pretty darn good. Excellent for drizzling too.I’m going to buy some more right now!
Very good taste
